You can book a Harry Potter cottage with secret rooms and a Hogwarts dormitory
Harry Potter fans can enjoy a magical stay in the cottage which features a secret room, a Hogwarts dorm and plenty more surprises from the wizarding world
Harry Potter fans planning their next break may want to consider a trip to Ireland, where a magical stay awaits courtesy of a wizarding world themed cottage!
The aptly-named Spellcast Cottage could be a strong contender for the best Harry Potter breaks with heaps of surprises for Potterheads, from secret messages hidden on the property, to themed rooms and photo opps.
The cottage sleeps four people in a Hogwarts-themed dormitory, complete with wooden beds that look like they belong in the Gryffindor common room.
Each bed is themed around a Hogwarts house including the bedding, so you’ll have to decide amongst yourselves who’s the Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Ravenclaw in your party!
Oh, and did we mention there’s also a room in the cupboard under the stairs, in a nod to Harry’s infamous sleeping quarters in Privet Drive?
That’s not the only hidden spot for guests to try and find. The cottage features a Secret Room complete with ‘mirror seating’ as well as fancy dress options from wizards’ robes to wands and glasses. Turn off the lights, and you’ll also be treated to some magical effects thanks to the glow-in-the-dark wallpaper.
Other highlights also include a small courtyard paying tribute to Platform 9 3/4, with an owl and trolley halfway through the wall so you can pretend you’re about to head to the Hogwarts Express.
The property, which also offers a kitchenette and a bathroom, has plenty more surprises throughout from owls carved into the furniture and banisters, to Harry Potter themed artwork adorning the walls.
Spellcast Cottage is located in Marshaltown Ennis Corthy in Ireland, and is available to book via Airbnb. There is a minimum two-night stay with prices from £281 per party (approximately £70pp).
If you’re after more dreamy Harry Potter breaks, there are plenty of fun options on offer year-round. For a start, there are plenty of Harry Potter filming locations in the UK to discover, or you could opt for a day out on the real-life Hogwarts Express.
If it’s an overnight stay you’re after, there’s also a Hogwarts themed apartment in Edinburgh that you’ll want to have on your radar.
We’re talking a Gryffindor-themed bedroom complete with an illusion of floating candles, heaps of memorabilia, a Gryffindor common room, and of course, heaps of Harry Potter books for some bedtime reading.
Meanwhile if you’re considering a trip to London, a new Harry Potter photo exhibition has opened its doors this year, complete with never-before-seen images from Harry’s first journey from Platform 9 ¾ through to the epic Battle of Hogwarts.
Highlights will include a Butterbeer Bar, a green screen where you can show off your broomstick flying skills, a chance to get your own Ministry of Magic Identification Card, along with plenty more photo opportunities.
