Step back to the 1970s in vintage Margate Airbnb with stunning beach views
The studio flat is just a one minute walk from Margate Beach and Dreamland in Kent, and is proving very popular
Lava lamps, bell bottom jeans, the Brady Bunch and David Bowie are all things we know and love from the 70s.
Homes were kitted out in rattan furniture and several shades of burnt orange – a trend which is slowly creeping back into millennial’s homes.
But one Airbnb host has gone one step further, transforming part of her home into a seventies haven, complete with views of sunny Margate sands in Kent.
Jessie Rose has converted the entire top floor of her central Margate townhouse into a studio flat, and now rents it out to holiday makers from all over the UK.
The studio features an amazing original 70s kitchenette, authentic vintage lighting and a restored blue bathroom suite which had to be shipped up from Cornwall.
It boasts iconic 70s wallpaper, burnt orange kitchen tiles, orange sofa and orange cushions at the window seat, overlooking Dreamland’s Ferris wheel.
Jessie said: “You need to come through my house to get to the studio but it’s it’s own private floor with a private bathroom, living room and lockable door. It’s the top of the house so you will need to go up a few flights of stairs!
“It has beautiful views of the beach and Dreamland which are both a one minute walk away!”
The flat costs £60 per night, and can sleep up to three people – and despite being incredibly popular, it’s still got some availability for September and October.
Ten people have left five star reviews for the studio in August, recommending it as one of the best places to stay in Margate.
Charlotte said: “A fab few days in Margate at Jessie’s apartment. So much thought has gone into the design with the reclaimed and restored original 70s kitchen and bathroom. Loved the window seat with the sea views.
“A great location to get to Dreamland, the beach and all the lovely restaurants in and around the old town. Jessie was an excellent host and very welcoming. Would absolutely return!”
Elizabeth added: “Jessie’s 70’s studio was amazing! The decor and attention to detail were fantastic, it was in a brilliant location, and it had everything we needed. Jessie was lovely and had some great vintage shop recommendations. The check-in process was easy and she made us feel very welcome.”
